# Scheduling Settings

> Break rules for scheduling. Part of the Deploy plan

Break rules are the one thing configured here. They are part of the Deploy plan, so the section shows a **Pro** badge if your organization is on Measure.

Open **Organization Settings > Scheduling**. Editing needs Scheduling > Manage Scheduling Settings. Break rules apply to every location in your organization.

## Break Rules

A break rule says how much break time a shift earns once it passes a length. Each rule has two numbers:

| Field    | Meaning                                   |
| -------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| Duration | The break, in minutes |
| Trigger | The shift length, in hours, that earns it |

A rule entered as 30 and 6 reads back as "30 min break for every 6 hrs". Add as many rules as your policy needs, and remove one with the trash icon.

<Note>
  Break rules are recorded here for your organization. They are not yet applied automatically to schedules, so treat this as writing your policy down rather than automating it. Breaks still need to be placed by whoever builds the schedule.
</Note>

Set them to match the law you operate under and your own policy, whichever is stricter. Levelset stores what you enter and does not check it against any jurisdiction's rules for you.

## Positions in scheduling

Which positions appear in schedule and setup tools is set per position, not here. Open [Positional Excellence > Positions](/organization-settings/positional-excellence), expand a position, and use **Show in Levelset scheduling**. The button at the top of this page links straight there.

## If the section shows a Pro badge

Your organization is on a plan that does not include Scheduling. Clicking the section explains this rather than opening it. If your level includes Billing > Edit Billing it also offers a link to Billing. Otherwise it gives you a support address, and you should ask whoever handles your account.

<Note>
  Viewing the schedule is not the same as this section. Schedule viewing is available on both plans. The Deploy plan is what adds schedule editing and these settings.
