Message Levi directly
In Slack, open Levi under Apps and send it a message. A few suggested questions may show at the top of the conversation, picked from what your access lets you ask. While Levi works, Slack shows that it’s thinking, then Levi answers in a thread under your message. Reply in that thread to follow up, since Levi keeps the thread’s recent messages in mind; a new message outside the thread starts a fresh conversation. In Slack, Levi answers for your home store: the store your Levelset login is set to, or if it has none, the store on your roster profile. The store picked at the top of the dashboard doesn’t change that.Mention Levi in a channel
In any channel Levi has been added to, type @, pick Levi, and ask your question. If Levi isn’t in the channel yet, add it in Slack first. Levi answers in a thread under your message. A channel answer is written for everyone in it, not only you. Levi answers with only what every member of the channel is allowed to see in Levelset, so a question about one person’s discipline may get less detail in a channel than in a direct message. It never puts an email address or phone number in a channel answer. In a channel of more than 30 people, it answers with only what everyone in your organization can see, whatever their access. A question about someone’s access goes to your direct messages instead, and the channel only sees “I sent you a DM.” Levi doesn’t answer in a group message, a channel shared with another organization, or a channel that includes guests, other apps or bots, deactivated accounts or people from another workspace. It replies with the reason; ask it in a direct message instead.Approve a change Levi drafts
Levi can draft a change for you, but it never makes one on its own. Ask in plain words, for example “post in #managers when anyone gets a food safety infraction”, and Levi shows the draft on a card. In a direct message the card sits in the thread; in a channel, only you can see it. A new automation, a rule that sends a message when something happens in Levelset, comes on a card headed “Levi drafted this automation for you.” with what the rule does, Confirm, Cancel and Open in Levelset. Nothing is set up until you click Confirm, and the draft expires after 30 minutes. How automations work is on Automations. A change to something that already exists, such as turning an automation on or off, editing it, or editing or deleting an infraction, comes on a card headed “Levi needs your approval for this change.” It shows what changes, from what to what, with Approve, Cancel and Open in Levelset. For a delete the button reads Delete and asks you to confirm. Once approved, the card may offer Undo. The card says how long it stays open. Only the person who asked can use the card; anyone else who presses it is told so. When you press a button, Levelset checks your access again, so a change your access doesn’t allow is refused on the card and nothing changes. If Levi doesn’t know who you are
If your Slack account isn’t linked to you in Levelset yet, Levi replies “Levi does not know who you are yet. Pick your name and an admin will confirm it.” Type at least two letters of your name under Find your name and pick yourself. Levi thanks you, and the person who manages your store’s Slack connection is told to confirm it. Until they do, Levi can’t answer you. If you mentioned Levi in a channel, the name picker shows as a message only you can see. If your name isn’t in the list, you may already be linked to a different Slack account, or you’re not on the roster yet. Ask your manager. What Levi won’t do in Slack
Levi doesn’t submit ratings, record new infractions or change the schedule, in Slack or on the dashboard. It never changes your store’s records without your click on a card. It doesn’t read a channel’s messages unless your organization has turned on learning for that channel, and it answers only when you message it directly or mention it. Levi doesn’t look up anyone’s pay rate; see What Levi can see. When many people in your organization ask at once, Levi may say “Levi is busy right now. Try again in a minute.”Who can do what
If you’re missing something here, ask whoever manages roles in your organization to turn it on.
